It is super compact and lightweight. It is completely flat when deflated, so when you roll it up, it does not take much space. There are two compartments. One for the head piece and another for body. it is heat fused into multiple sections of cushions, which distributes the weight well. Head piece has center part depressed, so that your head fits over the head piece part formed like a donut. The whole unit become a little smaller when fully inflated. The blow hole has a one way valve, where the air goes in but does not leak out. When you want to deflate, you can take the whole valve out and the air can be deflated super fast. Wow what a great sleeping mat. Very comfortable and super lightweight, got to use this and it worked great for me. I loved the inflation and deflation device on the mat, takes about 2 minutes to air up and half that to deflate. I use this in my hammock and the head support was surprisingly good. Also used this item on the bare ground and so far have not gotten a leak or cuts. I would highly recommend this, I also got super fast shipping
